Block Party HOT!!
Our annual Arnett Block Party yesterday was a wonderful success in spite of the HEAT, thanks to the generous participation of so many amazing volunteers and contributors. We’ve already been having a very hot and dry summer, but the weatherman was predicting sweltering heat and possible thunderstorms for our Block Party so we were a little concerned. Sunny skies kept the thunderstorms away, but we got the heat – up to the mid-90s! R Community Bikes (RBC) and the Arnett Block Association will be holding a neighborhood Bike Clinic in our parking lot at 350 Arnett Blvd this Saturday, May 12th, from 1-4 pm. We’re expecting a great turnout and will be giving away 15 reconditioned bikes in a free lottery to kids who come in eager anticipation. We’ll have 10 kids bikes and 5 teens bikes. Certificates will be available in case winners do not match sizes available. The Arnett Block Association found a wonderful Christmas tree this year for the Arnett Bird and Butterfly Park on the corner of Arnett and Wellington beside the Library! R Community Bikes (RBC) and His Branches held a neighborhood Bike Clinic in our Arnett parking lot last Saturday that exceeded all expectations. After being postponed for 2 weeks due to the heavy storm we had on May 8th, we had a great turnout and were able to give away 18 reconditioned bikes in a free lottery to kids who had lined up in eager anticipation.
