An adventure in process!
From its discovery early in November out in the Naples countryside, to its transport to Rochester in Tom’s truck 2 weeks later, to being set up in the garden park at the corner of Arnett and Wellington with the help of a wonderful team of City firemen from the Genesee Street Station, this year’s tree has been on an adventure.
A big thank you goes out to the Arnett Branch Library, the Arnett Friends, the Rochester Fire Department, New Life Fellowship Church and the kids and grownups from Adlai Stevenson School #29 for decorating this year’s community Christmas tree on Monday, December 4th, as a wonderfully collaborative community event.
Grade school students walked from school to the park with their teachers by classes – over 200 strong – with handmade decorations, little suet and seed bird and squirrel feeders, and cheerful faces singing songs, hugging Santa, and participating in library story-times. Special thanks go out to Susan and the Arnett Block Association for organizing this fun event!
Shortly afterwards our tree was decorated with a gentle snowfall from the sky in time for some lively neighborhood caroling around the tree on Dec 21st at 6:00 pm. Santa stopped by and greeted children all evening as neighbors shared hot chocolate and roasted s’mores over an open campfire! Ann from the Arnett Branch Library even came by with a library sled piled with books that were given out to celebrate reading in the season. This is neighborhood life at its best!
