Our neighborhood came together in a wonderful way this season, choosing a tall Christmas tree, bringing it here on a trailer pulled by a big truck, setting it up on a heavily weighted stand, wrapping cord after cord of lights around it with a bright star on top, and then hosting 15 classes of students from School #29 down the street who came on December 10 with hand-made ornaments and decorated it from top to bottom! After each class had put on their decorations they went into the Arnett Branch Library next door where special story readers were waiting to warm them up and reintroduce them to the joys of reading.
Then, on December 16 we had a community carol singing party around the tree with a blazing bonfire in a fire pit, cocoa and popcorn, two friendly police officers, lots of neighbors old and young, and Santa!! We had a wonderful time ringing in the season in the miraculously dry evening. All day long we had been looking at the official weather forecast which continued to predict lots of freezing rain, 90% in the afternoon and 100% in the evening. You know how much we got? Zero percent! God is good, all the time!
