Ode to Black History

To Dr. Martin Luther King Jr… love always
He and many others fought for freedom and won
Some measure of progress
The greatness of which
Time still tells the story of…
Generation succeeds generation
We live in a new day
With a new voice
And a new song

Yet…
We labor still for freedom
For ourselves,
For all men

All creeds to understand God’s plan
“Yes, we hold these truths to be self-evident,
That all men are created equal by God
And endowed by their Creator with inalienable Rights”
Which they should never be striped of
So, we labor with God for true freedom

For every tongue and tribe and nation
And all that towards one purpose…

One hope, surely to please
That the whole earth be filled
With the Glory of God
As the waters cover the seas!

And all God’s people said…
Amen!
