Caroling in the Park

The Arnett Block Association hosted their annual Christmas event last night at 6:00 pm in the Arnett Bird & Butterfly Garden on the corner of Wellington and Arnett. A hearty group of adults and children gathered for an early evening of caroling around an open fire, cooking s’mores, eating popcorn with cocoa, and having fun with other neighbors and friends. This time of year the butterflies were hiding but squirrels were out, and Santa Claus came by and stayed for the whole time! Santa’s helper, Ms. Anne from the Arnett Branch Library was there with a sled full of gently used...

2017 Christmas Tree!

A Visit From School 29 A big thank you goes out to the Arnett Branch Library, the Arnett Friends, the Rochester Fire Department, New Life Fellowship Church and the kids and grownups from Adlai Stevenson School #29 for decorating this year’s community Christmas tree in the garden park at the corner of Arnett and Wellington today! They walked from school to the park with their teachers by classes – over 200 strong – with handmade decorations, little suet and seed bird and squirrel feeders, and cheerful faces singing songs, hugging Santa, and participating in library...

The weather was perfect for playing some mini-golf and meeting new friends! Neighbors were able to shop for clothes for their children in a wonderful selection of gently used children’s clothing. School supplies were available for neighborhood students. Many thanks from us and our neighborhood to Jennifer Wolford, our nurse manager and all the volunteers from Lydia’s Closet! This could be the beginning of a new...

Block Party 2017

Was this the best one yet? We all had a marvelous time at our 12th annual Arnett Block Party on Saturday, August 5th. Volunteers started arriving at 9:00 am, and by noon when the party started we were up and Bob Puff had us all rocking to the Gospel! Seven churches pitched in with music, break dancing, a magic show, amazing bubbles, the bike clinic, and basketball hoops, jump rope, and hula hoop contests. And, can you believe it, there wasn’t a single bad incident, not even with the snakes and spiders in the Creeping Things booth! Kids were visiting Happy the Clown and getting their...
