ABA with the Chief

Special Meeting June 21, 5:30-6:30 pm Police Chief Ciminelli will be joining us at the Arnett Block Association for a special neighborhood meeting meeting on Tuesday evening, June 21st. We plan to meet at 350 Arnett Boulevard briefly and then take him on a walk on Arnett from Rugby to Wellington, meeting with businesses, talking, and pointing out areas of interest along the way. We will then meet back at 350 for refreshments and a time to talk more privately indoors. If it rains (really rains) we will meet indoors for entire meeting. Pop it on your calendar and plan to join...

Game Day at the Library

On your mark, get set, read! This Monday morning over 300 kids from Adlai E Stevens School #29 came by classes, played in the Arnett Block Association’s award winning garden, and then visited the library to pick up library cards and hear some fun stories. A big thank you goes out to Ms. Brittany Wells from the Mayors office, the Arnett Friends, the City Rec Center, Susan Morehouse, and the kids and teachers from School 29 for getting excited about this summer’s sports themed, reading program. As you can see from these photos we have some great students, teachers and volunteers in...

19th Ward Survey Report

Dear Ministry Friend and Coworker, Caleb Ministry’s* outreach with His Branches into the 19th Ward in the inner-city of Rochester began by prayer-walking the community. This provided us with an awareness and sense of the “spiritual needs” within the neighborhood. After the initial two weeks of prayer walking, our teams began conducting surveys with the people they met while prayer-walking. The survey was a list of questions which when answered would provide a clearer understanding of the “felt needs” within the neighborhood. The importance of this information is expressed by the...

A great Bike Clinic!

What a wonderful turnout! This year’s Bike Clinic was a great success. The weather was warm and comfortable (until a rain shower rolled in at the very end), and kids and parents started lining up at 1 pm right after the red, white, and blue R Community Bikes truck rolled in. We were privileged to give away 15 rehabbed bikes and a couple dozen brand new helmets and bike lock sets, thanks to a generous donation from the Rochester Police Department. And as a special treat, Bruce Tehan from the Arnett Branch Library rolled in with his “Books by Bike” rig, loaded with...

Neighbors Celebrating!

Greetings! This is just a brief letter to extend our thanks to God and to all of the workers who helped to make Saturday’s Neighborhood Celebration an incredible success! We had dynamic live hip hop music artists, delicious food for over 200 people, an exciting Children’s program with Bible stories, treats, prizes, Bangles the Clown, face painting…oh yes, and a beautiful day without rain!  Most importantly, we had the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ, which led to salvation for 7 adults and 25 children.  Praise be to God! All of these activities, were made possible by deeply caring...
