Healing the Hurt

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that in wake of the recent tragedy at the Boys and Girls Club there will be a meeting in the Wilson High School auditorium at 501 Genesee Street on Tuesday evening, September 1, from 5 – 8 pm. It’s called “Healing the Hurt.” Dr. Kevin Coffey will be discussing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and mental heath after these types of situations. As our children and staff get ready for another school year we thought this would be a helpful gathering for us, especially the families… all are welcome –...

Grief in our neighborhood

Wednesday night, August 19th, will ring in the minds and hearts of our neighborhood and the Rochester community for years to come. It was a night that started out with some good, clean fun at a Boys and Girls Club basketball game on Genesee Street, right across from Wilson High School in Rochester’s 19th Ward and within several blocks of our main ministry offices. When the game was over a crowd of kids poured out into the Club parking lot beside Westside Health Services and hung out for a while talking, laughing, and playing around with one another. Premiere a great success!

The Premiere of our new video, The Front Row, was a great success last night! We had a full house with about 100 in attendance representing a wide array of youth, agencies, churches, and other supporters from around the community. The video itself was deeply moving, and the panel discussion afterwards very enlightening and encouraging. Already nearly 400 DVDs have been distributed for group viewing in schools, rec centers, and youth programs throughout Rochester, and copies are traveling to NYC, Washington DC, and Atlanta. To view the video, find more information, contact us, or request a...

Resurrection Sunday 2015

He is Risen! And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before1 me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to...

Passover ‘Blood Moon’

Eclipse Dazzles Skywatchers The total eclipse of the moon lasted only a short time, but it still dazzled not only viewers but those who have been noticing an unusual sequence. This the third of four ‘blood moons’ in a row that all herald the start of major biblical holidays, starting with Pesach (Passover) and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) last year and following up with the same two holidays this year. A total lunar eclipse is sometimes called a blood moon because of the red color that is cast upon it by light refracting in Earth’s atmosphere. Early risers in the western...
