Proclaiming Peace

Missions Works Home & Abroad We were given the opportunity to share about the witness and work of His Branches at a wonderfully missions-minded gathering yesterday afternoon and evening at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Greece, NY. The event was called “Proclaiming Peace – Missions Works Home & Abroad” and we shared the podium with, as the title promised, gracious men and women serving both at here in Rochester and overseas. Rev. Andrew Selle spoke from the Word and personal experience about peacemaking with...

Garden wins City award

The Arnett Block Association garden committee won an award at the City of Rochester’s annual volunteer appreciation event held at the Strong Museum yesterday evening. Volunteers and friends of the garden were in cheerful attendance to celebrate with us, tour the Museum, and catch up with other gifted gardeners and dedicated volunteers from all over the city. It was an encouraging event for all with special kudos for our wonderful neighbors. Let’s give them all a hand – or better still, lend a hand in the garden to help out...

Supermoon completes tetrad

This year the night of September 27-28, which heralds the start of the biblical celebration of Sukkot (the “Feast of Tabernacles“), will bring another “blood moon.” To skywatchers, the dramatic term refers to the copper color the moon takes on during an eclipse, but to some observers, this event – the fourth and final eclipse in an unusual tetrad of four consecutive total lunar eclipses coinciding with major biblical holidays, each separated by six lunar months – will fill a biblical prophecy of the apocalypse. The...

Grief in our neighborhood

Wednesday night, August 19th, will ring in the minds and hearts of our neighborhood and the Rochester community for years to come. It was a night that started out with some good, clean fun at a Boys and Girls Club basketball game on Genesee Street, right across from Wilson High School in Rochester’s 19th Ward and within several blocks of our main ministry offices. When the game was over a crowd of kids poured out into the Club parking lot beside Westside Health Services and hung out for a while talking, laughing, and playing around with...

Congratulations! Your garden at Arnett/Wellington has won the Flower City Garden Contest award for Best Community Enhancement Garden (Westside)! Lions of Judah

Posted August 2 – One of the many big hits at our 10th Annual Arnett Block Party yesterday was a talented youth group from our neighborhood called “Encouragement Lions of Judah.” As described on their Facebook page, the group is “seeking to revitalize our community with the Love of God. [By] allowing our children to explore their gifts from God through encouragement, uplifting materials, TV programs we are instilling the community with spiritual/physical attributes of Gods Grace.” As you will see in the video...
